I will enumerate for you the “Statutory Publications” commonly found on board the ship. The “Ship’s Library” must contain the following books and it must be known to all crew. But the problem is that, some Deck Officers or Crew doesn’t even know that it exists. The following list is for your future reference. I’ll try to find their links, and post it later as an update to this article.
A safe and executable Voyage Plan is the aim of every deck officers, to safely navigate the ship from one port to another. I will be discussing today at Pinoy Maritime, a more specific aim of making a Voyage Plan.
Ship simulators have always been a craze in the Philippines. Most “Maritime Training Centers” in Manila offers a lot of simulator based courses to seamen’s. Among the most popular courses are SSBT, ECDIS and others. They also have simulators for Engine officers, wherein the setup is most likely the same as for the Deck officers.
